Open day during the Olympic period
During the Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Val di Fiemme
Open Days at the Stava 1985 Center
On February 9th and March 9th, the Stava 1985 Center will be open continuously from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to allow visits by spectators who have come to the valley for the Olympic and Paralympic Games and by accredited journalists.
Established by the Stava 1985 Foundation, the Stava 1985 Center—located at Piazza Sgorigrad 2 in Stava di Tesero—uses various multimedia tools to describe the origins, causes, and responsibilities of the disaster of July 19, 1985, in the Stava Valley.
The main information tools are the educational trail and the docudrama “It Was July 19th,” directed by Gabriele Cipollitti (a Rai director who previously collaborated with Piero Angela on “Superquark” and the “Superquark Specials,” and with Alberto Angela on “Ulisse” and “Meraviglie”), with Andrea Castelli and the children of Tesero. The film recounts the mountain trip of a group of young people who recount, through conversation, the history of the Prestavèl mine, the processing plant, and the mining landfill that collapsed on July 19, 1985, killing 268 men, women, and children.
